Blended Online MHFA Tertiary

Learn how to assist fellow a student who is developing a mental health problem

The course teaches tertiary students how to assist a fellow student who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. However, course participants will learn mental health first aid skills that can be applied to help any adult.

Course content is tailored to the student setting using case-studies, videos and resources tailored to their learning needs, and is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.

There are two components to the Blended Online MHFA Tertiary course:

  1. Course participants first complete the interactive self-paced eLearning component that presents an overview of mental health problems and mental health crises (5-7 hours).

  2. The follow-on training with IncludeEd is delivered online in Zoom in 2 x 2.5 hour sessions, or 1 x 4 hour in-person session. It allows participants the opportunity to revise and consolidate skills in a group environment, and to consolidate the application of this content with the development of practical skills in a group environment online.

Both course components of the course must be completed within a 3-month period.
